At the airport, you can purchase tickets for regular bus trips to Venice from two competing companies: ATVO (intercity buses) and ACTV (typical city buses, you need route No. 5). In both companies, one-way tickets cost 8 euros. Return tickets cost 15 euros. The price includes luggage, of course, in true capitalist fashion, there are differences between companies in terms of unique selling propositions. For example, ATVO offers more comfortable express buses that will take you to Piazzale Roma without stops in just 17 minutes. Whereas ACTV provides municipal buses. It takes 25 minutes, but they run more frequently.

As already mentioned, you can buy bus tickets both in the baggage claim area and at the exits from that area at the public transportation counters (look for the big Public transport ticket office sign) in the arrival hall (tickets for both companies are available), as well as directly at the stop from the ticket machines. The stop itself is very conveniently located right outside the airport. In general, the navigation in Marco Polo Airport is very well-designed and comfortable, so getting lost or confused is practically impossible. In Venice, public water transportation is called vaporetto. To get to the pier - dock - you need to take the escalators from the arrivals area to the upper floor. Then head to the left part of the terminal. There, you will see a moving blue walkway that will take you to the pier in 7 minutes. Vaporettos depart every half-hour and circle all the city's islands. In the end, you can not only enjoy a small sea voyage (up to 80 minutes depending on the final destination). But also get directly to, for example, the iconic San Marco.

Vaporetto tickets are sold in the same ticket machines as bus tickets. They are also available at public transport counters in the arrivals hall, at the kiosk at the pier, and even on board the vehicle itself. Ticket prices are 15 euros one way, 27 euros for a round-trip.

Water Taxi - the Most Romantic Way to Get from Venice Airport to the City

Finally, the most impressive way to get directly to the door of your hotel in Venice from Marco Polo Airport is a water taxi, also known as motoscafo. This is also the fastest and most expensive way. Prices for motorboat taxi services start at 140 euros. They also park at the pier where boarding for vaporetto occurs. However, it's best to book their services in advance through special websites or applications since the airport does not have a separate water taxi counter. At the same time, in Venice, this type of activity is so widespread that the number of companies offering motoscafo services tends to infinity.
