You don't have to spend on an expensive taxi to reach the largest of the pre-Alpine lakes — Lake Garda. Of course, you can rent a car, but only if you are an experienced traveler and know all the nuances of driving in Italy, such as limited traffic zones, different types of parking zones, toll roads, and more.
A more economical way to get to Lake Garda is by public transport: train or bus.
There are transport connections to such resort towns on Lake Garda as Desenzano del Garda, Peschiera del Garda, Malcesine, Riva del Garda, Bardolino, Sirmione. It's quickest and most convenient to reach Lake Garda from Milan, Verona, Brescia.
How to Get from Verona and Milan to Lake Garda by Train
The train is the most convenient transport to reach Lake Garda, second only to transfers with ttstaxi.com. Railway lines connect Milan, Verona, Brescia with stations located on one of Garda's shores: Desenzano Del Garda and Peschiera del Garda.
It's most convenient to arrive at the required station by train from one of two Italian companies: Trenitalia or Italo. Italo trains are faster, but Trenitalia tickets are significantly cheaper.

Tickets to Lake Garda can be purchased online or at any station's booth. If there's a queue at the regular booth, you can buy a ticket to Garda from the automatic kiosks.
How to Get from Verona to Lake Garda by Bus
The travel time from Verona to Lake Garda takes from 60 minutes.
Buses depart from the Porta Nuova bus station, from central city streets Piazza Bra and Corso Milano.
Buses follow route numbers: 162, 163 b, 164, 185, X05. In the summer, two additional routes operate. №483 from Peschiera del Garda to Malcesine and № 484 from the city of Garda to the nearby resort town Riva del Garda.

Sometimes, the schedule and route numbers may not match what is listed on the official website. What to do? Arrive at the station a bit early and find the stop where the bus you need departs.
