By Plane

The nearest major international airport to Iseo is one of Milan's airports, of which there are three: Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo (Orio al Serio). If you are heading to Iseo, Bergamo Airport will be the closest and most convenient for you.

By Train and Bus to Lake Iseo and the Town

If you choose to travel by rail, you can reach Iseo in two different ways. Either way, you will have to make changes, and you will also need to take a bus for part of the journey.

• The first train route to Iseo involves a change in Brescia.

You can cover the 50 km from Orio al Serio Airport to Brescia by bus, which takes about 50 minutes.

In Brescia you then change to the express train to Iseo. For half an hour you can admire stunning scenery along the 25 km route. The total journey time is about 1.5 hours.

• On the second route you will travel almost entirely by rail. The only exception is the start of the journey, when you need to take a bus to the railway station in Bergamo. Orio al Serio Airport is 3 km from Bergamo, and regular shuttle buses run between them.

The distance from Bergamo to Brescia is just over 50 km, and the train journey takes about an hour. It will be a memorable trip. In Brescia you change to the express train to Iseo mentioned above – a half-hour ride that will stay in your memory for a long time. In total, this option takes just under 2 hours.

• The third route to Iseo is by bus all the way. First you need to get from Orio al Serio Airport to Bergamo Palazzo, which takes about an hour. From Bergamo Palazzo, a regular bus service will take you about 30 km further to Sarnico, a picturesque spot on the shore of Lake Iseo. Here you change to a bus to the town of Iseo. The winding road reveals magical views of the southern shore of the lake, with the water stretching out on your left. So we recommend taking a window seat and letting yourself drift away from reality for a quarter of an hour.

This option takes the longest – more than 2 hours – even though it covers the fewest kilometres.

Iseo Taxi

All of the routes described above are perfectly valid, but you must admit they are rather complicated, especially if you are travelling with luggage. A good solution in this situation is a taxi to Iseo.

Take note! Taxis in Milan are privately run but must be licensed. Official taxis are white cars with a black roof sign reading "TAXI". But don't forget that taxis in Italy are incredibly expensive. On top of the metered fare, you may face surcharges – for example, for traffic jams, for night-time travel or for the weekend rate. Italian taxis are full of "surprises"! And you will have to sort all of this out in Italian, as most Italians speak little English.
